The Fox and The Cat

A CAT was bragging to a FOX of his clever ways of facebooking, photoshopping, posts, and 1005 ways of cooking chiken.
"I have an LG full of pictures to mutate, 1005 ways of cooking chiken" the CAT said, "and a hundred ways of being funny with words. I know A LOT of technology, and I'm very very clever."
"I have only one way, and I'm a blonde," said the FOX; "but I can generally manage with that, and with the help of a highlighting here and there."

So time went on, the FOX saw how very clever and funny the CAT was, and loved his videos, his texts, posts, and all things CAT. The FOX grew quite fond of the CAT, and wanted nothing more than to be with the CAT. The CAT in the interim went about playing with bubble wrap, golf balls and taking extraordinarily long hot showers, and plotting, posting, liking, reading Space Today on a daily basis, growing brain power.

The FOX saw all the comments coming through on the CAT's post. The CAT, very popular and loved by all, said "Smootchie!" The FOX immediately went to her laptop and did the only thing she knew how to do. She posted a simple picture. This is my simple plan," said the FOX. "What are you going to do?"

The CAT thought first of one photoshop, then another, even better trick popped into his head and he started in the other direction. Then the CAT stopped. Another trick had come to him but he wasn't quite sure if it was better than the second one he'd had. The CAT always could post a port-a-potty picture... well maybe....The CAT could always help the FOX's enemy post photoshop pictures ! The CAT could always always try and scare the FOX with his feet !

While he was debating time ticked away, like the cat's in the cradle with the silver spoon. Meanwhile, the FOX was silently waiting, posting just one picture. A picture of the CATS feet which she thought were cute.

And at last, the CAT in his confusion as to which picture was best was lassoed by the FOX. They ordered pizza with shallots. Lipstick was smeared (the CAT was wearing some that day), oh and people starred because, well, you know, a CAT & a FOX.

Moral of the story: sometimes things are the way they are. Including FOXes who fall hopelessly for CATs, even those that live in a land far, far away.

So I am on my phone Tweeting with blog pals and I hear "I am in jail". What? Well .... because I had NO computer, I could not see the photo at the Bahdette Peters Times Post. I was hold-up in a hotel on the Canadian border using a cell phone like a notebook (laptop) . Not so easy. NOT jail. Not really anyway.

I wonder how they found this picture from the Hollydale Gazzzels circa 1988? I thought I bought every copy ...

Even stranger, I saw this billboard traveling down Interstate 77
Sure, I know why I am looking at the HOT chick, but how did I get there? The real problem was that my URL was not listed at the bottom. What good is publicity if it does not drive traffic to the Speedcat Hollydale Page? Some people have blogs, some have SPLOGS (which suck), and some have web sites. I have a page. What defines being a "Page" and not a "Blog"? The difference lies mainly in content. Mine is random and contains way to many pictures.

I was upset, and jumped on the bed until the box spring snapped. In retrospect, this action was worth the overnight price in itself.

Before the little android dood took his post on the leedo deck, a short circuit in his neural network had him all F***** up. Instead of bringing iced tea he mixed up truth punch in the hollah deck. We all drank some with lemon and then began saying strange alien things, like "Hey Pickeards ... your bald head is so shiny we can't see the astern port viewer"
Within 20 minutes of truth the ship was in chaos, and blew to smithereens.

The Very Large Array National Radio Telescope needs a new name contest

The National Radio Astronomy Observatory is taking ideas for a new name. The public and fellow scientists are encouraged to brainstorm and come up with a new title for the "Very Large Array of New Mexico"
This is the telescope was featured in feature film "Contact" and "Shallow Hal 2001"
The quest for a new name comes after the radio telescope had an extreme update. Officials say the Very Large Array's old 1970s electronics have been replaced with state-of-the-art equipment, so a new name should reflect its new capabilities. As I was farting around with my new phone I realized that I can load up the actual blogger editor and do a post without utilizing email or other mobile blogger features. If you click on the "html tab" you can use your keyboard after tapping the text area. In compose mode nothing seems to work, at least on my phone. Of course this means that to add pictures or any other type of formatting you need to write in the code yourself and then simply publish. Still quite amazing that I can do this at all.

So I finally got around to watching the movie Rio, which is a movie I had been wanting to see ever since I first saw advertisements for it.
My excitement was two-fold: First, I love birds...Not much to explain there, I just think birds are awesome. Second, I'm naturally drawn to 3D animated films, due mainly to the sheer amount of possibilities that the particular media opens up for telling a story. There are quite a few things I want to talk about, so I'll just go about them categorically. (I won't outright spoil anything, but there will be clues that you may be able to piece together to reveal some major plot points.)

Premise- Rio is a 3D animated film about a Blue Macaw called Blu (named after the Team Fortress 2 team of the same name) who gets ripped from his happy home in Moose Lake, Minnesota and thrust into the wild jungle of Rio de Janeiro.>Obvious comparisons can be made between Rio and Rango, both of them being 3D animated films released within a month of each other about semi-anthropomorphic animals taken from their domesticated lifestyles and thrown completely out of their element, but that's actually where the comparisons end. Whereas Rango is less of a family movie and more of an adult one, about a guy who finds his calling helping the downtrodden, Rio is a 100% family movie about a guy who learns what it's like to be free while trying to thwart the bad guy and his 2 idiot side-kicks.

Story- As mentioned earlier, Rio is a family movie. Now, family movie isn't the same as "kid movie". I watched it twice in the span of 12 hours, which is a rarity for any movie for me. I was actually very surprised at the roles that humans played in this movie. Of course the villains are human (except for one), but in a movie where the primary characters are animals, there is very rarely any humans having significant supporting roles. Rio is the exception to this. Laura, Blu's owner, gets a lot of screen time, and although she rarely is the one who progresses the plot (usually being one step behind Blu and Jewel), she is given just as much depth and character as anyone else in the film. There's also Tulio, the Brazilian ornithologist, sent looking for Blu, the last male Blue Macaw, in order to...introduce...him to Jewel, a female Blue Macaw, in order to save their species. He's portrayed as a crazy goof that is extremely passionate about his work, to a fault, and while at first you're unsettled by his strangeness, it doesn't take long for him to endear himself to you with his awkward charm.

Visuals- This movie is absolutely stunning, visually. It's beautiful. From the models, to the texturing, to the animation, to the camera angles, everything is pristine. The character models are diverse, and convey their emotions very well. The birds look great, which would be expected, considering they are the primary animals in the movie, but even the animals that only show up once or twice are just as detailed and well constructed. Animation deserves special mention, because even for a mainstream animated film, the animation is gorgeous. Everything is very smooth, and aside from the occasional hovering bird (which they make work), everything is very realistic. They managed to capture the grace of flight, as well as the awkwardness of birds walking, and tie it all in with all the gestures and mannerisms needed to make the characters not only believable, but relatable as well. Even the humans, who, as I said before don't generally get a lot of screen time in animated movies about animals, are diverse and believable.

Music- Music deserves a special mention here, because although it is definitely not a "musical", there are several parts of the movie that are heavily musically oriented. The songs are all very rich, diverse, and catchy. I caught myself rewinding the movie to play them back once they've finished. Beyond that, I don't know what to say. It's hard to describe music.

Criticisms- I find myself having a hard time coming up with criticisms for this movie. Everything about it is very polished, even down to the ending credits sequence. However, nothing is perfect, and there are a few things that I should mention. The "evil" bird is just a bit TOO evil to be believable. He could have used some more depth. It also bugged me that his explanation for how he turned evil and why he's doing this is summed up in a single 30 second song. Even just spending a bit more time on his backstory than just an "I'm evil, and here's why" PowerPoint set to catchy-but-repetitive music would have added to his depth and believability.
The other thing worth mentioning is that there are a few dead spots in the movie. I didn't notice it the first time, but the movie seemed quite a bit shorter the second playthrough, and after going over the movie in my head, I noticed that I mentally skipped over a couple scenes that don't really add to the movie at all. Comparisons could be drawn to the "We're traveling!" scenes in the Lord of the Rings movies, in that they explain things that don't really need explaining in the first place, such as "In between the time that they got on the motorcycle in one place, and got off it in another place, they rode the motorcycle!".

In conclusion, I recommend watching Rio if you get the chance. It's a fun ride, and the best way I've seen birds in a movie.Also, let me know what you think of this write-up. I could make more, if this one is well-received.

Ohh blog of mine, you are so lonesome and nekids. Where are the posts and stories? Well, I have been busy swimming in the ocean - yes, I met a mermaid.

She makes the coolest clothes out of shells! They always show mermaids in movies that get legs for a period of time, but let me tell you now, that's just Hollywood mumbo jumbo. Mermaids stay in the water ... always. Her name is Kwallinapollinatooeewaliwalichee. I forgot it a few times and almost ruined the entire affair, so I said it 100 times in the shower. I sing in there too you know. Anyway, going out to dinner with a mermaid is cheap. I no longer need a wallet or any money. We eat fish and sea weeds (mine with a light vinaigrette). Turtles? They are so funny, and never forget anything, kind of like an elephant with a shell, "unsalted". If everything works out, we may be married by late September, which would be slick because that's when mermaids lay eggs.

Update on Browser Support from Blogger states that you NEED a new browser for shit to be working right, especially after August. Today is my BIG Day ... Again

Today is my big day! I will be the guest speaker at the Hollydale City Council meeting. They want my input on goat farming... I am an expert goat farmer. First things first, it's time to brush my teeth. Nobody likes to see broccoli between teeth and gum.

Next, I pretend like I am the "Fonz", and slick back my new hair club for men super weave. I think the money was well spent. There will be many news cameras today, so I need to look my best for the broadcast. Gosh, "There is a butterfly in my gut".

Before I leave, a good blogger always checks his comments.... Oh look, it's that funny Buryya and Golfer in Hollydale Guy Ha haaa, they want me to have lunch today. We'll see how long the meeting takes.

I'm now ready to go, and have my politician style clothing on. Notice the groovy biz man neck tie? Not to shabby for a Speedcat. There are only two things that concern me, but I forgot what they were. With that in mind ... lets move on because there is plenty with a CAPITOL P to cover here in this post. I have used Facebook so much that it seems more of a WALL update, but it is not that. Bloggers blog, or post. Did you ever notice that many blogs do not blog at all? I did. Why does this carry a vital importance? It doesn't! Especially when we need to talk about Arnold's love child. That's a misnomer I think, because love was probably not the reasoning behind the bastard baby. On to our next bullet point, we focus on the Twins. Yes, baseball is looking very sad this year and I take blame. When there is blame to be taken, I will be there. I hit a few home runs as a kid in little league you know.
In weather news, it seems that meteorologists just cannot saying Omega Block. Seems we have an omega block this week in the USA. I bet Omega Man is behind all this jet stream manipulation! That, or maybe that high bird corn is destroying the universe. Someone needs to send out the
bat signal before we all end up over at Myspace. I would rather use an etch-a-sketch to communicate than Myspace. BARF
In kitchen news, I got a new fridge last week. It holds a lot of crap! So much crap that I cannot remember what all I bought and put in it. I usually just open it up, look inside, and say, "Boy Ohhh is that a lot of crap". So far I really like it, even if I don't know what to make for dinner.
My dog is wild crazy K9 happy as the trail is open for business. He runs and runs and runs ... and I slowly walk along behind. I was thinking about getting a wagon and a hot dog to hang from a stick. That way the dog could chase the hot dog and I could simply ride along in comfort. I could even blog and post while rolling along the winding hills all through the woods.

I played golf for the first time this season last Monday at Rum River Hills. It seemed like an eternity since my last round in October 2010. You always wonder what your game will look like after a long delay, and I had no idea if I remembered how to hit the ball.
The course was not busy, and it seemed like we rented the entire place for the day, which was great, and the fairways and greens looked good after a long mean winter.
My best shot of the day was a full rip 3 wood from 270 out over water to a small green. It was a bit short, but just a 30ft chip and a putt left for my birdie. After this hole I felt like I was unstoppable, but of course had a few bumps and bogeys left to be had.
After the round I counted 28 photos in my camera phone memory stick .. these are a few of the best shots.

Free Salad and the Mystery Meats

They say you can only eat what is on your plate, and I did not want to make anything at home. That makes my plate empty in a big way. I decided to take a trip down Main Street to Hollydale's world famous Pat's Diner.

They have a terrific special on Wednesday ... a free salad ( with diner card ) and a mystery meat dinner for 4.99 What is a mystery meats plate? Well, you get whatever is fresh off the grill at the time you order. That is the part I love, because you sit there wondering what could be on the way until it arrives at the table. My grub ended up to be two chunks of meatloaf, with some extra brown gravy poured over the top and a pork chop. Pork chops and applesauce ... "who said that"!??

My waitress Laurie was a bit drunk and smoking lots of cigarettes, which sounds offensive at first, but she had a sweet romantic kind of attitude and was calling me "babe" a lot. I started calling her "pork chop". After my mystery meats plate, I had some pie and coffee. That was when the shit hit the fan.

Say, can someone tell me what the heck happened to the Blogger WYSIWYG editor? Every time I write code in the html tab, then look at the layout in "compose", all my text and code is smashed up together. DAMMIT!

At least I had some great chow, thanks to Pat

Intelligent Beavers in the Yukatoawachie Valley

On my recent trip to "Canabeva" Canada, my wildlife safari group discovered a band of intelligent beavers in the Yukatoawachie Valley.

(Okay, it was not really a safari, but it was an excursion)

Wearing my protective head gear, I was adaptive and assimilating with nature. My beaver calls and beaver tail flaps were well received by the nomadic group of mammals.

Slowly I crept ever closer to one of the giant bongo beavers .... he was playing "We will Rock You" by Queen. Another member in my party was able to capture the picture (left) of his performance. At the end of his rendition, we all clapped, and the beaver took a bow.

I wanted to try the bongos, but the wild Canadian animal lashed out, and tried to bite me. Note to self ... never reach your hand out at a beaver.

After the concert, our group walked down along the river banks to examine the dams. They were quite elaborate, and I was immediately aware of the dam builders stick assembling prowess. They sure can do miracles with those fat tail of theirs!

To aid in the construction, I offered a chainsaw to one them (the smallest and weakest of course). With a keen sense of adaptation, he was at home with the Stihl 5000 dual blade tip in no time. Here he is testing the throttle, and getting a feel of the saws balance.

After a long day of cutting, fetching, and mud caking ... our safari group was ready to head North to the hotel and say goodbye to our new found friends. I hear Drowsey Monkey lives around here!
Maybe I will stop in and say hello.
Until then, I will forever carry great memories of the intelligent beavers in the Yukatoawachie Valley in my brief case.

They all scoffed at my ideas, and even claimed they were implausible. That simply grew my misguided efforts. I lie in bed every night contemplating a million scenarios and sequences searching for that elusive epiphany ... the grand Tee Tahn if you will. Just as life surprises you, so did my bowl of raisin bran. I counted the ratio of flake vs raisin
and found the equation right there before my eyes floating in aged 2% milk.
I hopped out of bed and pounded out the new theory with expeditious fingers and pencil. The pencil had no eraser, so any mistakes were striked, or struck, err - stricken from the record maybe? ( grammar is not my strongest tweed suit )
3.7 hours in and there it was. My formula was sceaming out riches, fame, and Nobel Prize. I did want a Nobel, even if they gave them out to insider baffoons and con men, because a Nobel would look great on my mantle.
Next, as you might expect, was the real and true test of conceptual realization. My efforts were diverted to engineering what mathematical thoughts were documented on tree pulp pressed very thin. I like college rule, but buy wide margin at the dollar store. Why? ... because it is a dollar.
All was moving along well, as test after test proved positive, but my project was cut short of completion. I invested all of my time and money into a coconut ranch in Hibbing. That's how shit happens here in Hollydale.

Yes, he sure was. When he lived in Minnesota his name was Bob Dylan. When he started his writing career, his first pen name was "Paper Mate" but that didn't work out. He used to really enjoy driving his Cord convertible up to Minnesota's North Shore along Lake Superior with his girlfriend Carmen. Carmen was the nurse on the "Axel & His Dog" kids TV show in the '50's.
F. Scott used the North Shore as the setting for his first book; "Murder on the Disoriented Express". It was centered around the train that runs between Duluth and Two Harbors. The basic story is that of two lumberjacks that were really upset with Minnesota's law against having an open liquor bottle in a vehicle and took it out on an iron miner from Biwabik who was just trying to get to Two Harbors for a pizza. The book didn't sell very well and no one wanted to buy the movie rights because the book was only 27 pages long. Things got better for him over time and Scotty finished his career as the Chief Engineer on the Starship Enterprise.

The hype and excitement over cold fusion have been raised again by two Italian researchers. They claim to have fused atomic nuclei at room temperature. I measured my room, and it seems that number can be arrived at by applying this formula: 75-4/1

Cold fusion ? Well, lets just say it has been the holy grail of physics geeks across the globe for decades. Skeptics will say that you just cannot get more out then you put in without converting matter to energy. I say, my fireplace does it every day! Of course, this is due to Speedcat's "Hot" fusion theory. Go ahead and try it yourself. Now, if cold fusion in Bologna could be achieved, it would be an economical, possibly clean, and limitless energy source. Rumor has it that this NEW cold fusion creates copper. I cannot vouch for this, but Andrea Rossi and Sergio Focardi could be more specific. Neither one would take my calls, as it seems they are too popular for blog interviews. Shocking, very shocking. Anyhoo, back to the copper, maybe we could all get new pipes, for plastic prices. Good for plumbers that are out of work? You betcha ... (( winks )).

I think you have it backwards. Cold fusion doesn't create copper, but copper is used in the process of creating cold fusion.You need a copper pipe and an aluminum can. A clean soup can with the cover removed will do.The copper pipe needs to be two inches longer than the height of the can. Cap the one end of the pipe. Fill the pipe with water two inches short of the top.Stick the pipe in the can. Fill the area around the can with ice. About an inch of crushed ice. Sprinkle salt over top of the ice. Add another layer of crushed ice and sprinkle salt over it. Repeat until the can is full.Now, turn the copper pipe around slowly in the ice-salt mixture. After some time has passed, you'll find that the water in the pipe has frozen and is fused in it pretty good.Presto! Cold fusion!

I did not watch American Idol yet this season, but did run across a story on my news page with a poll. Overwhelmingly, viewers found Paris Tassin to be the best and most memorable contestant so far. The song brought Jenny from the block "Jennifer Lopez" to tears.
Paris Tassin was pregnant at 18 years old, and doctors recommended that she terminate her pregnancy because her baby had hydrocephalus, or extra liquid in her brain. Changes, the big changes, carry a mix of excitement and self doubt. Seems getting by is nice for just so long. I never realized the fact that life is very much lived in stages, or progressions when I was younger. Life seemed more as a timeline with future dates of significance.
My last, and current cycle has been one with a regrouping agenda. Planting my feet again and adapting to a whole new set of criteria. Being single and living alone is one big bag of mixed emotions. For the most part, it has been very liberating, and actually quite insightful. You seem to find an inner perspective and self realization by maintaining such a free, uncompromising, and unscheduled life. You think and ponder past and future a lot more without distractions bombarding you at every turn. What am I talking about? Who knows ... this is one of those ramble and type random pops of my brain posts. Sometimes they just fall out of your crack butt.

Here are the main things I have learned about myself in the last 2 years.

1. I hate stress, and am not good at handling it. More peace, moh bettah
2. I don't really give a crap about how big or how nice my place is
3. Doing what I love is a soul builder. Taking concessions in some parts of my life to be able to find room for what I enjoy is invaluable
4. I am a great leader, yet a shitty follower. There, I admit it ... I think I am a good guy, but have a stubborn side.

For 2011

1. New job that does not make me want to tear my hair out
2. Make all changes needed to make #1 possible

Sounds so very simple when I write it down. Why is it that sometimes our minds make changes so difficult to accept?

Sun Dogs look like rings or "poles" around the sun. They typically form just after sunrise on windy, bitterly cold mornings after snow falls. If you have never seen them, consider yourself lucky ... here's why.

A Sun dog is caused by water vapor that freezes into ice crystals. The sunlight is then refracted by the ice crystals, forming bright rings on either side of the visible sun. Sun dogs usually happen when the temperature is well below zero, and the wind is stronger than 15 miles an hour. The rings are supposed to resemble the tails of dogs - hence the name. I call them frostbite beek-ons. Be one with the chickens, and stay inside!

The Longest Jump

The year was 1989, and I was on the verge of retirement from professional stunt bike jumping. My doctor told me that one more injury to my groin area might result in my "nuggets" falling off ... in turn, producing probable man boobs. Yes, my baby makin` days were done, but still. Who wants stuff falling off - NOT ME.
Due to a few financial problems and a need to end my career with a world record that would last, I made a "fire from the hip plate" decision. Yes, I would make ONE LAST JUMP.
That jump was no ordinary run of the mill type, it was over 700 buses. My technical advisor told me that I needed a take off speed of 107 mph to have any chance of success. To add some insurance, I set my goal ramp speed at 117 mph.

As you all well know, I do not have man boobs. I did achieve motorcycle legend status that Saturday afternoon. I still have a .... well, you know, and a really cool belt in my memorabilia case.

When I was a kid, the holidays meant that all of the wonderful decorations, ornaments, and special items appeared again at grampa's house. In the basement every December was an old Lionel Train. I could not tell you why I loved it so much. It had a simple oval track, and no buildings or other of the usual railroad models. The locomotive DID have a smoke stack though ... and it worked by dropping some kind of pellet into the top. Worked is a loose term meaning it smoked a little bit for a short time one year. The whole family was down there with advice and ideas to get that train to smoke as all us kids cheered them on. Of course the best part was when you could actually run the speed control yourself. Waiting for the next turn seemed like an eternity. When I think back so many years, I can still see grampa and the twinkle he had in his eye as the smell of electricity floated through the air. Amazing how something apparently so simple can make such a strong, lasting, and happy memory inside a person.

ONCE upon a time, there lived a 3 pound Chihuahua named Mardy. Mardy loved three things ... trail walking, chicken, and peeing on stuff. The world seemed larger than life, and he was very happy living in Hollydale.
One Morning, Mardy woke up for a drink of water and found the ceiling had dropped very very low. His bowl was also amazingly tiny, with only enough liquid to moisten his tongue. How very odd, Mardy thought. That is how the adventure began.
He squeezed through the back sliding door and stepped off the deck. To the right was his constant nemesis, "Duke" the German Nazi Shepard. Mardy took his paw and squished him down in the mud. "I forgive you for tormenting me all these years, but I AM going to get your fur dirty".
Next on the agenda was finding his favorite marking posts, but he now towered over them. Mardy let loose with a fire hose like jet stream of yellow, and the tree was torn from the ground. It floated down to the marsh and withered. Conspiracy Carol called 911 to report giant canine aliens deforesting the planet.

Pioneer Creek Golf Course

Situated upon 200 picturesque, rolling acres along Pioneer Creek in Maple Plain you will find this little known golf course. The design is classic Joel Goldstrand, with massive elevation changes, winding fairways, and water everywhere. At Pioneer Creek, you must put some thought into your tee shots. Seems you are constantly aiming at a target rather than a "line". The greens are fairly hard to read, as it seems there are no flat areas of ground to compare too. This is the kind of course that would be much easier to play once you drove the track a few times. As a whole, I like the course and layout. Challenging, yet not overbearing. Playing smart shots is key to getting par on any hole. I found myself looking to play around, or away from hazards all day.

The clubhouse is small, but quite nice.
Very informal and friendly, is does not have a stiff country club feel. More of a regular Joe atmosphere ... which I love.
Best part about playing Pioneer Creek was the fall special, where you pay half the temperature. A Minnesota fall day drives that green fee low and fading.

Incandescent light bulbs

While doing a search for just what IS made in America, I found 3 Amish companies that make some really sturdy chairs. They make couches and davenports too, but they are way to stiff to watch football on for any length of time.

LAST, but not least ... the Long awaited 51 great pizzerias across the USA list has been announced. FAT LORENZO's made the cut. Now I will sleep soundly.
